Newark: Passenger Deploys Emergency Exit Chute, Says He Got On Wrong Plane

A passenger who said he'd boarded the wrong plane at Newark Airport opened an emergency door and deployed an exit slide, said police who arrested him Sunday night.

United Airlines Flight 1640 flight bound for Tampa was still at the Terminal C gate when 25-year-old Troy Fattun of Minnesota became disorderly around 10 p.m., the Port Authority's Joseph Pentangelo said.

The incident held up the flight for nearly five hours, with passengers having to get off and then later reboard, he said.

Charges were pending, Pentangelo said.
